About the Strap:

The quintessential black vintage style Panerai strap. Perfect thickness, temper and finish. If you could have only one black strap in your collection, this should be a strong consideration. The leather has a semi-gloss top side paired with a light tan reverse side. The temper is medium-soft, and will soften further over time as it conforms to your wrist. Designed specifically for the 47mm Panerai Luminor case, this strap maintains a bold 26mm width throughout its entire length, providing a commanding presence that perfectly balances the substantial Luminor 1950 style case. The details pay homage to the golden era of Panerai:

• The Build: A consistent 26mm profile featuring a pronounced ‘torpedo’ tip and a ~4.4mm thickness—roughly ~1mm thicker than standard OEM offerings for a superior, more rugged feel.

• The Stitching: Hand-finished in a traditional boxed pattern using an ivory high-tensile thread. This neutral black-ivory tone provides a great deal of potential pairing among the Panerai dial/case lineup.

• Refined Edges: Each edge features a precise, soft crease, while the keepers are left plain to mirror the minimalist, functional elegance of classic archival straps.

• Hardware: I paired this strap with a flat GPF-style vintage pin buckle, staying true to the historic “G. Panerai e Figlio” aesthetic. You may also select alternative hardware options from the dropdown menu.

Technical Specifications:

• Construction: One floating and one fixed keeper with a reinforced single-fold termination at the mid-length area of the buckle side for maximum durability.

• Compatibility: While shown with the flat GPF-style buckle, I can enlarge the pin holes for Panerai Luminor OEM buckle compatibility upon request—simply select “No Buckle” from the menu.

Additional Information:  For each Panerai model, I have a different design philosophy regarding straps. For the 47mm Luminor series case, as well as the Radiomir 1940 and the Submersible, my concept revolves around thickness and symmetry. When I create unique straps for the 47mm series cases, I take into account the overall thickness and temper of the leather I am working with, more so than with Radiomir or 44mm Luminor cases.

The 47mm Panerai case ships with a 26mm width strap. There is no escaping the mass of this case and strap combination. My designs for this case take into account several features, including the arches, curves, angles, and degrees of slope of the case and buckle. Instead of stepping away from or minimizing the bulk of the case, my goal is to embrace it. 

Additionally, I like to make the strap keepers wide. I box stitch most 47mm Panerai straps for extra strength. On rare occasions, I may employ open-ended stitching. 47mm Panerai custom straps tend to be 5.0mm thick or greater. I usually utilize vintage-style stainless pin buckles that are sewn in place. These pin buckles work especially well for thicker straps. Vintage-style Panerai pin buckles also allow for narrower buckle holes. What’s more, for these 26mm-wide straps, I mostly employ thicker thread with a larger stitching margin. I adjust stitch spacing to be slightly wider than on my 44mm or Radiomir straps.

I perform the entire process by hand without templates or machines. Finally, as a result of the handmade nature of these straps, no two are identical.
