Panerai Strap 47mm 26/26 “Archive 1943 V2” Contrast

Price range: 119$ through 129$

Handcrafted to honor the utilitarian roots of early Italian military dive timing, this substantial 4.5mm-thick, straight 26mm tan leather strap delivers a bold, historically accurate presence to vintage 47mm Panerai Luminor models like the PAM00372 and PAM00422. Featuring a flat, period-correct GPF-style buckle and striking boxed cream stitching, the supple, medium-soft leather self-burnishes over time to develop a highly personalized, rugged character that photos simply cannot capture.

Description

About the Strap:

A thick (~4.5mm) vintage style 47mm Panerai Strap. This is an amazing chrome tanned leather that looks even better than the photos, which fail to capture its natural rustic tan appearance. This strap is of a medium-soft temper, ideal for this thickness. I designed this strap with cream colored stitching, adding for a nice contrast with the tan color of the strap. This strap would also look brilliant with color matched stitching, so feel free to request it.

Designed specially for the 47mm Panerai Luminor case, this strap maintains a 26mm width throughout its entire length. The leather features a smooth top side with contrasting edges. As mentioned above, photos don’t do it justice. This build is engineered to give a direct nod to the oversized, functional roots of early Panerai. Perfect for PAM00372, PAM00422 or similar heritage models. *Note: the strap in the photos measures 150/90.

  • The Build: Crafted with a straight 26mm profile and a prominent ‘torpedo’ tip, this strap features a substantial ~4.5mm thickness. By adding roughly 1mm of depth compared to standard OEM straps, it delivers a bolder, more rugged presence on the wrist.

  • The Stitching: Hand-stitched in a classic boxed pattern using high-tensile cream colored thread. The stitching is chosen to be lighter than the leather, offering a versatile contrast that effortlessly complements a range of dial colors.

  • Refined Edges: A subtle, precise crease traces each edge, while the keepers are left clean and unadorned to capture the functional, minimalist look of historical military straps.

  • Hardware: I paired this strap with a flat GPF-style vintage pin buckle, staying true to the historic “G. Panerai e Figlio” aesthetic. You may also select alternative hardware options from the dropdown menu.

Technical Specifications:

  • Construction: One floating and one fixed keeper with a reinforced single-fold termination at the mid-length area of the buckle side for maximum durability.

  • Compatibility: While shown with the flat GPF-style buckle, a limited selection of other pin buckles are also available.

  • Availability: In stock for the near future, re-stock may be possible later.

Additional Information:  For each Panerai model, I have a different design philosophy regarding straps. For the 47mm Luminor series case, as well as the Radiomir 1940 and the Submersible, my concept revolves around thickness and symmetry. When I create unique straps for the 47mm series cases, I take into account the overall thickness and temper of the leather I am working with, more so than with Radiomir or 44mm Luminor cases.

The 47mm Panerai case ships with a 26mm width strap. There is no escaping the mass of this case and strap combination. My designs for this case take into account several features, including the arches, curves, angles, and degrees of slope of the case and buckle. Instead of stepping away from or minimizing the bulk of the case, my goal is to embrace it.

Additionally, I like to make the strap keepers wide. I box stitch most 47mm Panerai straps for extra strength. On rare occasions, I may employ open-ended stitching. 47mm Panerai custom straps tend to be 5.0mm thick or greater. I usually utilize vintage-style stainless pin buckles that are sewn in place. These pin buckles work especially well for thicker straps. Vintage-style Panerai pin buckles also allow for narrower buckle holes. What’s more, for these 26mm-wide straps, I mostly employ thicker thread with a larger stitching margin. I adjust stitch spacing to be slightly wider than on my 44mm or Radiomir straps.

I perform the entire process by hand without templates or machines. Finally, as a result of the handmade nature of these straps, no two are identical.
