Description
About the Strap:
This strap is a monster, redesigned specifically for the bold proportions of Panerai Radiomir timepieces. Crafted from premium chrome-tanned hide selected for its rugged durability and unique texture, this leather originates from Mexico—a region with a storied heritage in world-class tanning.
The character of this hide is exceptional: the top side features a dynamic texture that shifts between deep chocolate and light tobacco browns, while the flanks provide a striking golden-brown contrast. Despite its formidable appearance, the leather possesses a soft temper, ensuring it conforms to your wrist almost immediately and allows for effortless adjustment.Custom Engineering & Heritage Style
To match the historic aesthetic of the Radiomir, I’ve tailored this strap with a 27mm lug width that tapers elegantly to a 22mm buckle. It features a significant “torpedo” point and is stitched with high-tensile, heavy-gauge French thread. I’ve utilized a traditional boxed pattern with tight stitch spacing, which demands more time on the bench but delivers a superior, high-end aesthetic.
-
Refined Durability: The buckle side features a single-fold termination with reinforced stitching for maximum security.
-
Edge Work: Every edge, including the keepers, is finished with a thin, soft crease for a polished look.
-
Hardware: The design utilizes one floating and one fixed keeper. It is pictured here with a vintage-style flat pin buckle, though you can select additional hardware options from the menu.
-
OEM Compatibility: If you prefer to use your original Panerai buckle, I can update the strap with larger pin holes upon request.
Fit and Dimensions
At a thickness of 4.2mm (roughly 1.7mm thicker than a standard OEM strap), volume is a factor. The golden rule for thick straps is to size up: if you typically wear a 120/70mm, I recommend ordering a 125/75mm. The strap photographed for my personal collection measures 135/80mm. Pictured with the PAM00992 Radiomir 8 Days.
Measurements:Â This strap is 27/22, with a thickness of ~4.2mm.
Included:Â Watch strap, optional buckle, one wooden gift box.

________
Why a custom strap for your Radiomir? Ordering a bespoke Radiomir strap gives you full control over every detail. It lets the watch wear exactly the way you prefer, not a generic fit. Radiomir wire lugs are sensitive to thickness, taper, and hole spacing. A custom strap keeps the watch balanced and integrates cleanly with the case. A made-to-order strap also breaks in faster on your wrist. For collectors, a bespoke Radiomir strap is more than a replacement part. It improves comfort, elevates the look, and gives the watch a personal presence.
Additional Information: For every Panerai model, I approach strap design with its own distinct philosophy. The Radiomir remains my long-standing favorite within the entire Panerai lineup. I bought my first Radiomir nearly twenty years ago, though I didn’t begin making straps for it until much later in life. Designing for the Radiomir is both enjoyable and technically demanding.
For larger Panerai cases around 47 mm, I typically use thicker thread with wider spacing. With the Radiomir, I vary both thread thickness and stitch density, mixing tight patterns with wider intervals. These choices always depend on the behavior of the specific leather. Most aftermarket Radiomir straps fall between 3.5 mm and 5.0mm, with the majority landing somewhere near the midpoint.
Radiomir wire lugs work best with softer, more flexible leathers. From a design perspective, I usually taper the straps to 27/22 or 26/22, depending on how the material responds. For larger 47 mm Radiomir cases such as the PAM00323, I advise a thickness of 4.5 mm or more. I’ve also produced bolstered-taper designs for these 47mm Radiomir models.
Please contact me before placing an order for a custom Radiomir strap. I’m always glad to help guide the selection. I take pride in every aftermarket Panerai strap I build, each crafted entirely by hand without templates or machines. As a result, no two handmade straps are ever perfectly identical.
