Panerai 44mm Strap “Black Walnut” Ranger Variation

About the Strap:

*Note: this strap differs from the ‘Black Walnut V2’ seen here in that it features raw edges and OEM style buckle. This is a unique leather with a lustrous dark walnut brown tone. This soft, thick strap has a dark topside and a contrasting, lighter edge. The neutral tone and ivory stitching pair well with most any PAM case and dial color combo. Other stitching colors are available on request.

Designed specifically for the 44mm Panerai Luminor case, this strap holds a bold 24mm width along its entire length. The topside has a semi-gloss finish, and the leather will soften and darken naturally with wear. Every strap collection deserves at least one dark brown option. Seen above with the PAM00775. Each detail is engineered to complement the Luminor case while nodding to the early days of Panerai:

• The Build: A consistent 24mm profile with a pronounced tip and 4.5mm thickness. The edges are left raw, and hand punches form the buckle pin holes.

• The Stitching: Hand-finished in a traditional boxed pattern using ivory high-tensile thread. The bright tone creates a striking contrast against the dark walnut leather. This pairing works especially well with black, white, and tobacco dial Panerai Luminor models.

• Refined Edges: Each edge carries a precise, soft crease, while a plain keeper echos the minimalist, functional elegance of classic early PAM straps.

• Hardware: This strap comes fitted with an OEM-style trapezoidal screw buckle for a clean, factory-correct look. Alternative hardware options are available from the drop-down menu.

Technical Specifications:

• Construction: Single floating keeper, with a fold terminating at the buckle side.

• Compatibility: The OEM-style trapezoidal screw buckle ships pre-fitted for direct Panerai Luminor compatibility. Select “No Buckle” from the menu if you’d prefer to supply your own.

• Availability: In stock for the foreseeable future. Once this hide is exhausted, sourcing more may prove difficult.

Additional Information: The 44mm Panerai Luminor is the workhorse of the Panerai lineup. Therefore, it offers the most flexibility for aftermarket strap creation. Larger 47mm cases often require thicker builds. In contrast, the 44mm Luminor works with different strap thicknesses, including modern takes on Panerai Pre-V straps.

When selecting thread and spacing, I consider both the leather’s thickness and temper. This way, I ensure comfort, balance, and durability. Most 24mm straps for 44mm Luminor models use a vintage-style Panerai pin buckle.

However, many straps in this section also feature alternative buckle options in the drop-down menus. My design approach includes dual wide keepers, box stitching, and thickness between 3.5 and 5.5mm. As a result, these features reflect the traditional proportions of Panerai Pre-V straps.

All 24mm straps for 44mm cases are 24/24mm without taper. By comparison, I reserve tapering for Radiomir models. For Luminor, I prefer longer buckle sides and shorter bottom sides. This creates visual balance and secure wrist fit. Stitching margins are thinner than on 47mm straps, consistent with Panerai Pre-V straps.

Finally, I craft every strap by hand using the same tools from my two decades as a boot maker. Each strap is unique.
