Description
A thick vintage-style 42mm Panerai strap. I craft this custom strap from full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather sourced directly from historic Tuscan tanneries. The leather boasts a rich, lustrous finish that feels remarkably soft despite its thickness, delivering immediate wrist comfort right out of the box. With its classic tone and traditional stitching, this piece complements any collection and pairs effortlessly with every dial color.
Tailored specifically for the 42mm Panerai Luminor case, the strap maintains a straight 22mm width throughout. I build this and all subsequent 42mm Luminor straps using the exact styling of my 44mm and 47mm designs. I scaled down the proportions to fit the 22mm lug width, keeping everything else identical to the larger straps in the lineup. With regular wear, the leather ages gracefully—softening, deepening in tone, and developing a distinctive patina over time. Its robust build directly channels the oversized, utilitarian roots of vintage military dive watches, pairing naturally with references like the PAM01711, PAM01710, or PAM01714. *Note: The strap shown in the photos measures 125/80. I also offer custom sizing.

Additional Information:
The 38mm, 42mm, and 45mm Luminor Due models offer distinctly refined dimensions. Similarly, modern 42mm references—such as the PAM01710, PAM01711, and PAM01714—share these balanced proportions. Because every Panerai case geometry presents unique demands, careful consideration is required. Therefore, I balance the silhouette, lug width, and case thickness before crafting each custom leather strap.
On the site, you will primarily find ready-to-order sizing for 42mm models featuring a 22mm lug width. Notably, this sizing fits both contemporary 42mm Luminor cases and 42mm Luminor Due watches. Furthermore, I build bespoke straps for the 38mm Due and 45mm Due upon request. Alternatively, if you own a 45mm Due, you can browse the dedicated 24mm collection for direct options.
Above all, case depth dictates the ideal leather choice. For the slender Luminor Due profile, I select supple leather calibrated to a reduced thickness. In addition, I occasionally incorporate firmer cuts to maintain a clean line against the slim case. Conversely, for references PAM01710, PAM01711, and PAM01714, the case accommodates a more substantial profile. As a result, the strap complements the bold cushion case without overwhelming the 22mm lug spacing.
To complete the build, a curated selection of hardware is available across the 22mm range, extending from brushed pin buckles to vintage-inspired profiles. Moreover, many Luminor Due straps can accommodate quick-release spring bars. Consequently, these bars enable tool-free strap changes, effectively preventing accidental scratches to the polished case flanks.
Each piece is bench-made entirely by hand. Rather than relying on clicker dies or automated machinery, I work exclusively with traditional hand tools carried over from my bootmaking background. Ultimately, because every piece is cut, beveled, and finished individually, no two straps are identical.
