Description
About the Strap:
Built specifically for the proportions of the Panerai Radiomir, this strap balances vintage character with clean, dependable construction. It is made from full-grain vegetable-tanned leather sourced from Tuscany, Italy, pairing a smooth, glossy surface with a soft temper. There is zero break-in period—it wears comfortably straight out of the box and pairs naturally with vintage-lume dials and sandwich layouts.
The cut features a classic 26/22mm taper designed to sit cleanly against the wire lugs of 45mm and 47mm Radiomir cases (including references like the PAM00424, PAM00425, and PAM00721). Tapering down to 22mm at the buckle cuts down on excess bulk under the wrist, keeping the profile slim and comfortable for daily wear. With regular use, the tan finish will naturally darken and develop its own patina.
Note: Custom lengths are available upon request to fit your specific wrist size.

________
The Radiomir Philosophy: Why Commission a Custom Leather Strap?
Why choose a custom strap for your Panerai Radiomir? In short, ordering a bespoke build grants you complete authority over every dimension. Consequently, your timepiece wears precisely to your standard rather than relying on a generic, factory fit.
Historically, Radiomir wire lugs are exceptionally sensitive to strap thickness, taper, and pin-hole placement. Therefore, an intentional cut ensures the watch remains properly balanced against the wrist. Furthermore, a tailored leather strap integrates flush against the cushion case without binding. Because each cut uses premium, vegetable-tanned hides, the band conforms quickly to your anatomy. Ultimately, a made-to-order Radiomir strap is never a mere replacement. Instead, it elevates ergonomics, enriches case aesthetics, and gives the watch an authentic, personal presence.
Design Insights & Craftsmanship
Every Panerai reference demands its own distinct design philosophy. In fact, the Radiomir remains my personal favorite across the entire historical catalog. While I acquired my first Radiomir two decades ago, leathercraft for the reference began much later. Today, engineering straps for these wire-lug cases remains both deeply rewarding and technically exacting.
For oversized 47mm cases, standard builds typically feature heavy gauge thread paired with wider intervals. However, the Radiomir allows for greater nuance. Depending on the leather’s grain, I vary both thread weight and stitch density, balancing tight boxed patterns with open vintage intervals. Thickness is equally critical. While most aftermarket Radiomir straps measure between 3.5mm and 5.0mm, ideal builds generally settle around the median.
Above all, wire lugs demand leathers with a supple, forgiving temper. Structurally, I craft these bands with a pronounced taper—either 27/22mm or 26/22mm—depending on how the leather flexes. For prominent 47mm models like the PAM00323, I specifically recommend a robust 4.5mm thickness or higher. Additionally, I frequently execute bolstered-taper silhouettes to support the visual weight of these large cases.
Before placing an order for your custom Radiomir strap, please reach out directly. I am always available to guide your leather selection, lug taper, and wrist measurements. Every aftermarket Panerai strap is bench-made entirely by hand without stamping dies or automated machinery. Consequently, no two finished straps are ever identical—delivering a truly individual piece of artisanal leathercraft.
