About the Strap:

A thick vintage style 47mm Panerai Strap. This V2 variation differs from the V1 version in that this version features burnished edges, a curved buckle, cream stitching and creased keepers. The leather itself boasts a lustrous dark walnut brown tone with a contrasting, lighter edge. It is remarkably soft for its thickness, ensuring immediate comfort on the wrist. Thanks to the neutral tones and classic stitching, this strap is a versatile workhorse that pairs effortlessly with any dial color.

Designed specifically for the 47mm Panerai Luminor case, this strap maintains a substantial 26mm width throughout its entire length. The semi-gloss top side is designed to age gracefully, softening and deepening in color to develop a unique patina with ongoing wear. This strap is easily a core part of any collection. This build is engineered to give a direct nod to the oversized, functional roots of early Panerai. Perfect for PAM00372, PAM00127 or PAM00422. *Note, the strap in the photos measures a classic 150/90. Custom sizing is available.

• The Build: A consistent 26mm profile featuring a pronounced ‘torpedo’ tip and a ~4.5mm thickness—roughly ~1mm thicker than standard OEM offerings for a superior, more rugged feel.

• The Stitching: Hand-finished in a traditional boxed pattern using a cream colored, high-tensile thread.

• Refined Edges: Each edge features a precise, soft crease, as do the keepers.

• Hardware: I paired this strap with a curved vintage pin buckle. You may also select alternative hardware options from the dropdown menu.

Technical Specifications:

• Construction: One floating and one fixed keeper with a reinforced single-fold termination at the mid-length area of the buckle side for maximum durability.

• Compatibility: While shown with the curved pin buckle, I can enlarge the pin holes for Panerai Luminor OEM buckle compatibility upon request—simply select “No Buckle” from the menu.

Additional Information:  For each Panerai model, I have a different design philosophy regarding straps. For the 47mm Luminor series case, as well as the Radiomir 1940 and the Submersible, my concept revolves around thickness and symmetry. When I create unique straps for the 47mm series cases, I take into account the overall thickness and temper of the leather I am working with, more so than with Radiomir or 44mm Luminor cases.

The 47mm Panerai case ships with a 26mm width strap. There is no escaping the mass of this case and strap combination. My designs for this case take into account several features, including the arches, curves, angles, and degrees of slope of the case and buckle. Instead of stepping away from or minimizing the bulk of the case, my goal is to embrace it. 

Additionally, I like to make the strap keepers wide. I box stitch most 47mm Panerai straps for extra strength. On rare occasions, I may employ open-ended stitching. 47mm Panerai custom straps tend to be 5.0mm thick or greater. I usually utilize vintage-style stainless pin buckles that are sewn in place. These pin buckles work especially well for thicker straps. Vintage-style Panerai pin buckles also allow for narrower buckle holes. What’s more, for these 26mm-wide straps, I mostly employ thicker thread with a larger stitching margin. I adjust stitch spacing to be slightly wider than on my 44mm or Radiomir straps.

I perform the entire process by hand without templates or machines. Finally, as a result of the handmade nature of these straps, no two are identical.
