Description
About the Strap:
A thick (~4.5mm) vintage style 47mm Panerai Radiomir strap, tapering from 27mm at the lugs down to 22mm at the buckle. This is an amazing chrome tanned leather that looks even better than the photos, which fail to capture its natural rustic tan appearance. This strap is of a medium-soft temper, ideal for this thickness. I designed this strap with light brown stitching, keeping it in the same color family as the strap itself. This strap would also look brilliant with beige or cream colored stitching, so feel free to request it.
Handcrafted specially for Panerai Radiomir cases, this strap pairs especially well with larger 47mm Radiomirs, as seen in the photos. The leather features a smooth top side with contrasting edges. As mentioned above, photos don’t do it justice. This build is engineered to give a direct nod to the oversized, functional roots of early Panerai. Perfect for PAM00323, PAM00504, or similar heritage Radiomir models. *The photos of the strap on the 323 best represent the actual color of the strap.
-
The Build: A tapered profile running 27mm at the lugs to 22mm at the buckle, and a ~4.5mm thickness—roughly ~1mm thicker than standard OEM offerings for a superior, more rugged feel.
-
The Stitching: Hand-finished in a traditional boxed pattern using a light brown, high-tensile thread. The tone is selected to sit just a shade lighter than the leather, creating a versatile aesthetic that pairs comfortably with various dial colors.
-
Refined Edges: Each edge features a precise, soft crease, while the keepers are left plain to mirror the minimalist, functional elegance of classic archival straps.
-
Hardware: I paired this strap with a curved, vintage-style pin buckle, hand-sewn to the strap for a period-correct look true to early Radiomir hardware. You may also select alternative hardware options from the dropdown menu.
Technical Specifications:
-
Construction: One floating and one fixed keeper with a reinforced single-fold termination at the mid-length area of the buckle side for maximum durability.
-
Compatibility: While shown with the curved vintage pin buckle, a limited selection of other pin buckles are also available.
-

________
Why a custom strap for your Radiomir? Ordering a bespoke Radiomir strap gives you full control over every detail. It lets the watch wear exactly the way you prefer, not a generic fit. Radiomir wire lugs are sensitive to thickness, taper, and hole spacing. A custom strap keeps the watch balanced and integrates cleanly with the case. A made-to-order strap also breaks in faster on your wrist. Its thickness, flexibility, and length are tailored to you, not an average template. For collectors, a bespoke Radiomir strap is more than a replacement part. It improves comfort, elevates the look, and gives the watch a personal presence.
Additional Information: For every Panerai model, I approach strap design with its own distinct philosophy. The Radiomir remains my long-standing favorite within the entire Panerai lineup. I bought my first Radiomir nearly twenty years ago, though I didn’t begin making straps for it until much later in life. Designing for the Radiomir is both enjoyable and technically demanding.
For larger Panerai cases around 47 mm, I typically use thicker thread with wider spacing. With the Radiomir, I vary both thread thickness and stitch density, mixing tight patterns with wider intervals. These choices always depend on the behavior of the specific leather. Most aftermarket Radiomir straps fall between 3.5 mm and 5.0 mm, with the majority landing somewhere near the midpoint.
Radiomir wire lugs work best with softer, more flexible leathers. From a design perspective, I usually taper the straps to 27/22 or 26/22, depending on how the material responds. For larger 47 mm Radiomir cases such as the PAM00323, I advise a thickness of 4.5 mm or more. I’ve also produced bolstered-taper designs for these 47 mm Radiomir models.
Please contact me before placing an order for a custom Radiomir strap. I’m always glad to help guide the selection. I take pride in every aftermarket Panerai strap I build, each crafted entirely by hand without templates or machines. As a result, no two handmade straps are ever perfectly identical.
